And Another One: GOP Pulling Out of Montana, Too

On top of news that Republicans have conceded the Senate race in Washington to Maria Cantwell comes reports that the GOP is abandoning Conrad Burns in Montana.

"The rumor flying through political circles is that national Republicans have all but given up on Sen. Conrad Burns' re-election chances. The National Republican Senatorial Committee has not spent a penny on television or radio advertisements on behalf of Burns since Aug. 7. Over the same period, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee had shelled out $1.2 million on TV and radio ads on Tester's behalf, according to comparative summaries."

Here's where we stand now:

The Democratic playing field in the House continues to expand, with more and more races becoming competitive every day as we enter the stretch run. Republicans are realistically only competitive in one Democratic Senate race (NJ). The GOP has essentially conceded Republican Senate seats in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Rhode Island, and now Montana. Missouri, Tennessee, and Virginia are very much in play for Democrats.

The Democratic Party has a chance, if it can capitalize with a strong finish from campaigns and a well-run GOTV effort, to sweep into power with a governing majority in the House and at least a small majority in the Senate. It's up to us to do all we can to help make that happen. Volunteer, get your friends and family to vote, wear a button, put a sign in your yard. Do something to help bring about change.
